Designing an album cover
A quick process on how I designed an album cover for a metal band.
The album reflected heavily on inner struggles, The pursuit of meaning within ourselves and the physical world. We wanted to convey that in the artwork as well.

.
Early planning stages of the artwork, making notes and working out what would go into the design. Everything is still very loose and rough at this point

.
Here you can see the progression from establishing line work to adding the base colours and eventually shading and other small details.
.
.
.
During the project I also had to design the band logo. We had tried out numerous ideas before the band decided on the current logo.

Here's a gif. I made to quickly demonstrate the progression of the artwork.
Here is a link to the process video posted to Dtube along with a couple of tracks from the album.

Thanks for looking!
There is quite some intellectual process going on here...but luckily it still looks good in the end.
Thanks Werner, these things take time.
What a smashing post! Very lovely Jeremy, I love looking at your process of creating this album cover all the way through. Your sketch work is already pretty good looking in its inception phase, and how you transformed that into the finished full blown illustration. Very nicely done :D.

Thank you! I'm trying to push the sketching phase further along before I move into digital, as alluring as digital may be!
Dear Artzonian, thanks for using the #ArtzOne hashtag. Your work is valuable to the @ArtzOne community. Quote of the week: Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics. -Victor Pinchuk
