The Gestures of Power | Photographies
The gesture of power is a project of pure instinct. Result of several conversations and readings. For some time now (perhaps more than I can say) I have been paying a lot of attention to the gestures of people in everyday environments, understanding that the everyday life of the Venezuelan is basically a chaos I could find conceptual clashes from the simple need to photograph something that caught my attention, a way to stand, a way to communicate with the other through the body.
These photographs were taken in a few days, they were grouped very easily and almost born from the same stroke of luck. They are also small records of my time in Caracas.
We are clear that everything is political. Even the posture of who pulls out a cell phone to shoot.
I made the presentation of this small series with its title and location, I think it gave it a much more editorial and serial sense. I really managed to generate the concept. Surprisingly I haven't continued the series, I haven't taken more photographs thinking about it or maybe I haven't seen them, but I keep thinking and studying the body as territory.
The pictures were taken with my Motorola XT cell phone.
