Ready For Action

I did this drawing a little while ago just to see if I could come up with a cool Star Wars character design, and because I don't think there are enough people of color kicking butt with a lightsaber in the Star Wars universe. She looks a little too hip to be an actual Jedi, in my opinion, maybe someone who left the order to pursue her own path, which is probably part space pirate and part reluctant hero.

I always thought it was a little weird that lightsabers don't have any hand protection. Yeah, sure, you could argue that a Jedi uses his force senses to keep his hand out of harm's way, but if that Jedi is fighting someone that is using their forces senses to try their best to hurt him it seems like it might cancel out a bit. With that in mind I gave her a gauntlet that is presumably made from some lightsaber resistant material like Mandalorian iron. Actually, I imagined it would be cool if both her gauntlet and her cybernetic arm were both made with light saber resistant materials so she could use them to parry, or maybe even grasp a lightsaber blade for short period of time.
