Speed painting lesson 2. Why is LION the King Of the Jungle?

in #art6 years ago

What? You didn't expect me to post the lesson no.2 so fast? Well, didn't I say this is about speed?

Yesterday I posted my less than 1 hour work of "Fierce Lioness". I told you that I will do the exercise again with a male version of it. I actually did it yesterday before leaving my studio around around 10pm.

I also came across kick ass article explaining why the Lion is the king of the jungle and not the tiger, despite the fact, that tiger is bigger, heavier and usually wins a fight over a lion in a very short time. But, and that's a great but, that's only true in case of captive animals. Because unlike tiger, which does not fight a lot if at all (male tigers solve their disputes via display and intimidation) male lion spends the whole life fighting other males and many die. That is also why lion has a mane around his neck, cause it's damn hard to bite through it (most causes of fighting deaths are by biting through the spine).
Where am I pointing? To the fact that wild tiger would stand almost zero chance against wild lion, because in this case, size would not matter. Lions is a black belt experienced fighter and most of all- it never backs off. It fights until death.

NOT THAT I CHEER FOR ANY OF THAT! WHAT IMPRESSED ME ABOUT LIONS IS SUMMED UP IN THIS BEAUTIFUL COMMENT OF SOME UNKNOWN FELLA:

A Lion is consider the King of the jungle due to his braveness and fearlessness that's in him. A lion is set to fight and withstand his opponent without any fear or frighten. His roars are majestic. His spirit of leadership and humbleness makes him the king..."No matter how strong a lion is, he will always bow for lioness". And a lion knows what he want and never stops until he gets it... He can rip off your soul without even touching you or coming closer. However, with all his braveness and brutality, he's still humble and most of all never give up even when wounded he still look out for his family. Alway will be the King of the jungle.

Gosh that touched my heart...

Well after reading this, I was damn motivated to deliver the speed version of a male lion, as you can imagine!

And so here is my jungle king in 3 steps, total deliver time under 1 hour..

Background and more contrast work, using smaller brush.

Intensity of stare- pun intended! :)

If you wonder why speed in art matters, read my yesterday's post:

So whatdaya say? Gonna try to do something spontaneous without your mind getting in the process?
As far as creativity and art goes, mind is not your friend, it's your worst enemy, even Einstein knew that!

Thanks for reading, upvoting, commenting and resteeming!

Much Love to all!

yes haha this lion is one the the best paintings ever! Im not sure if lions is always loved by girls tho.:DD

Great painting...And nice post..

Yeah. You sure are right with the qualities you mentioned.

How about we take the qualities and weigh ourselves with them?

Talking about been the king of the jungle (having everything) but still humble.
I think humans need to copy such quality.

And lastly, a Lion fights till death, that speaks volume of endurance, perseverance and good virtue. Most times we are faced with challenges and Fights in life, how do we react to them? Do we quit to soon? Do we run away?

I'll urge steemians to copy the character of a lion and dominate wherever they find themselves..

Great art @jankasparec

Good point. Yes I'd love to be a lion every day :)

King of the Savannah maybe! But if el Tigre meets monsieur lion in that awesome jungle you painted...
