Step into the Interdimensional Portal. My UV-Reactive Artwork!

It's really nice to throw down on another blog post once again! My internet connection for the past couple of days has been inexplicably bunny for the past couple of days so unfortunately I forced take a short hiatus from daily creating and sharing new content with you guys. I'm back and loaded with so many more past projects to present! 

Todays Show and Tell highlights the progress of a custom hat that I had entitled "Portal!" This custom was created in the spring of 2015 and was a commissioned order! Whenever I am commissioned to create a design without a centerpiece, I see it as an opportunity to get inventive and creative with the background patterning. I like to give each tier of patterns a different configuration and infuse a repeating detail which makes it unique from the others. Below is a photograph of the final product displayed under fluorescent UV-reactive blacklight. Following, are some progress shots from when I was working on this piece!

Just as with any project or endeavor, the initial concept is first conceived as an idea within the mind. The most beautiful forms in nature always seems to carry out this law of nature as well. Consider the flower. Life begins as a point in space and time and then radiates outward from that single. This is why I am drawn to mandala-styled artwork because it seems to mimic its process. I postulate that this is the reason for its universal appeal. 

As you can see this same process is carried out in my custom designs.  Below you can see that the "point" of creation is in the bottom corners of the hat.
