I set up this contest to raise AWARENESS, APPRECIATION and ACTION regarding the danger our cetacean friends are going through given problems like:

• captivity and abuse for human entertainment
• Ghost fishing and over fishing
• Plastic pollution and plastic ingestion
• commercial fishing
• Ocean pollution brought about by toxic wastes produced by factories
• many other threats

So, again, let us try to do basic measures to lessen plastic footprints like using less plastic and not buying products with too much plastic packaging. Also, conserving energy, the electricity and water you use to lessen the use of fossil fuels so there's less climate change!

The blue whale is one of the largest cetaceans in the world, it is between 20 and 30 meters long and although you may not believe it, it is in danger of extinction. The indiscriminate hunting of whales by the Asians has decreased their numbers, although organizations like Green Peace try to help, but the support they have to fight against these whale hunters that in many cases are heavily armed is not enough.

Whales are intelligent mammals, which move together forming a kind of large cetacean groups. It has been discovered that they have a strong sense of camaraderie, as the whale groups support and help each other. In fact, in many cases, the baby never separates from its mother because as it grows it does not leave the clan.

Recent studies have shown that whales have a region in the brain capable of processing emotions more efficiently than human beings, generating feelings of love, jealousy and even in many cases empathy between their peers and other species. Researchers have been able to observe cases in which groups of blue whales come together to save the lives of other cetaceans from orca attacks.

Then it's worth asking. If they are capable of loving, they are also capable of suffering? It is time to support the campaign against the killing of whales and for this I dedicate this work that reflects the majesty of this creature in its natural environment.
