A TIMELAPSE VIDEO - Drawing Zeus the BLIND OWL with Colored Pencils
This is a video of me drawing an owl feather
Hello everyone! this is the continuation of the Owl drawing. This is the last video I have of me drawing Zeus. In this segment I will draw and shade a feather so you have an idea how the rest of the body is drawn.
Materials: Mitsubishi Japan Colored Pencils (Uni no.888), Conda 12'' x 16'', acid free, textured paper.
As you can see closely looking at the feathers
What we are drawing here are the dark shades, negative drawing.
instead of drawing the feather, we draw the shadows to make the feathers pop out.
No need for white charcoal or white paint or white colored pencils.
This is the final outcome
remember:
- inking outlines of feathers, eyes and outlines/shadows will help create depth and realness (3D) effect.
- negative drawing is using the dark shadows to form the subject instead of drawing the subject itself.
- leave out method is leaving white spaces of the paper untouched (or any flat/ or any surface you are drawing on)
- grey, green, brown, sky blue and purple light shading on shadows helps achieve a realistic effect.
- If you run out of black color you can use the combination of the following: brown, green, blue and violet. Any mix of these will do. For example:
i. blue and brown
ii. brown and green
iii. green and violet
This is from my Youtube channel.
technique: light to dark technique
I hope you like the video!
Have a great day and enjoy!

You are so amazing. Those eyes are captivating. And the feathers are so fluffy! Truly a wonderful drawing. Thanks for sharing the video, that was fun :) Cheers - Carl
Hi there. Thank you so much!!!! Im glad you enjoyed watching the drawing.
Yes thats the reason I wanted to draw this owl. Apart from him being rescued was a total act of kindness and compassion to animals, he also has unique and starlit eyes.
Cheers!
