Survival of the Fattest (sculpture). By Jens Galschiøt.

Greetings Steemians ... Today I would like to show you a sculpture that you will surely find very interesting :)

The 3.5 meters high bronze sculpture is called "Survival of the Fattest", was made by Jens Galschiøt in collaboration with Lars Calmar in 2002 and represents an African man, small and hungry, carrying on his shoulders a fat woman from the West. The woman holds in her hands a balance as a symbol of justice but her eyes are closed, to show the unwillingness to see the obvious injustice.

The sculpture tries to send a message to the rich part of the world and seems to focus on our obesity due to consumerism while ironically the people of the third world are starving, due in part to the unbalanced distribution of the world's resources.

In the sculpture there is an inscription that says: "I'm sitting on the back of a man, I'm sinking under the burden, I would do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back."

Incredible sculpture with a deep social message and irony regarding the great social injustice between the countries of the first world and the third world.
