All Things Artsy And Nerdy

Who needs Juilliard anyway? Juilliard seems to value those qualities in their actors. I’ve spent a lot of time this year getting to know Juilliard by watching everything I could find online, touring the school, attending the information sessions, and seeing all the 4th year shows. He still lacks the versatility to be anywhere near getting onto this list though. I especially like the Creativity Notes, separate commentaries in which Schwartz offers insights, humor or painful lessons from the experience of getting a show to the stage. They strongly believe in doing the stage which is your big day for something beautiful for your future. Many young couples also forget that this big day is about them, it is their event. The wedding bells are sounding and this is the start of all the strenuous and tedious assignment that awaits you till the orginal day of your wedding. Andy is off to College and his toys are sent away. Woody and Buzz and the rest of the toys have to make their way back to Andy's house which is not the most original plot but if it sells, sell it.

But I have felt that way in the past and have been disappointed when my name was not there. I was there for several minutes and then my name was called and I was escorted to the hallway outside of the studio where I would be auditioning. There is widespread chaos among recruiters/project managers as far as recruiting talent is concerned. PR in one shot. They would make their VPs call you from US and tell you wonderful stories about how talented you are.Ravi Kumar never doubted his talent but had never heard anyone praising him to this level. Oscar for it. I really can't think of another man that could carry the film despite only being in it for little more than a quarter of an hour, it really does say a lot for this mans talent. Adam, Rob, Chris and David are beyond immature throughout the entire film. Especially if you see the film in 3-D. Overall my opinion of Toy Story 3 is good, but I hope Pixar let's the story die now, it's over kill. I mean, can you imagine it today: A cop married to a hooker and the two of them in constant battles, raking each other over the coals over it?

Five minutes into the movie I could NOT BELIEVE that these were the two leads. Probably the most overlooked man in the history of cinema in my personal opinion, you think of any great movie from the 1960's and this man probably had something to do with it. They had just seen 155 AMAZING young artists (with major potential to do great work) share their hearts, hopes and dreams at this audition. He reminds me a bit of a young Morgan Freeman. I am sorry to say that I cannot remember who was in the audition room for my first audition at NYU. Any actor who wants to make a living in his/her field is going to be in hot pursuit of his/her Equity card the moment it behooves him/her to obtain it. After all, it is the very ham-handed parts of The Patriot that detract from it, while the ham-handed parts of the early disaster movies are what make them watchable today.

So anyway, today is no different. Even if it's just for today! I cannot even BELIEVE my good fortune. I don’t know how I could have possibly been so lucky, but I was assigned the BEST audition room possible. Then…he asked me if I’d like to sing. I said I’d LOVE to sing. So I sang “Make Someone Happy” again, just like I did at my NYU audition and I tried to breathe…sometimes succeeding and sometimes not. I asked if it was okay, if it was gin instead. Ravi Kumar's journey shows how immature our job market is. I'd be lying to myself if I said that it will be easy - this journey of mine. I will take it all! NYU had clearly had a profound impact on the actor/professionals that each of them had become. I'm not my job. They really did an awesome job with it. You know nothing about your job.

Most newly couples have experienced this before and all of which has commented that the one regret for their wedding preparation would be not having a wedding planner. I was not one of the chosen. Jack's got some amazing tools for doing just that and sooooo much more in his book New Thoughts For Actors. The shocking antics of the family are relayed with a very casual and nonchalant touch by the actors, which makes the humor all the more ghoulish. The parallels between Hackman and Jesus are not subtle. I think the stem of the problem comes from the fact that he really hasn't been given a lot to work with, the majority of his roles come in films that are always lacking and flawed in a certain area. In some ways, she's the "forgotten" nominee of this category: after all, her fellow nominees either give somewhat iconic performances (Lansbury, Duke, Badham) or are iconic supporting actresses (Ritter).
