Original Rembrandt oil painting (process photos)
Hi steemians sharing with you a oil painting portrait of Rembrandt and the process that went into it.
Here I started with all the base tones to make the face. I did not worry much about detail or realism.
I then started to add more skin tones to add realism.
Final steps, I realised there were quite strong greens so I blended the tones down and made them more subtle.
Finished
Artist: @iansart
Medium: Oil on square canvas
Time: 3-5 hours
My main aim of this painting was to practice Rembrandt's style and use of colours. His paintings are quite realistic yet you can still see his brush strokes giving an impressionistic feel. His colours used can be quite dull looking.
Good work brother! I like you drew half of the face!
Thanks :)
Welcome!
Very beautiful . You are an amazing artist. You executed the impressionistic Rembrandt style beautifully .
Thanks @nehab :)
Great work!
This is always a good exercise and it really helps us to learn and develop our own style. I love a bit of realism but I often want to see my brushstrokes or smudges :)
I agree, I prefer it when it's not too realistic :)
