Light and Shadow of the Spear

Come into my own soul
discover what's left of the light
repair the carnage's toll
swords rusted from the ancient fight.

Bring a candle to guide your way
the halls are littered and narrow
for what remains on this day
cannot promise guidance to the last arrow.

Shield carried and wrought of sighs
and assurance cast down with armour asunder
look the last of humanity in the eyes
as the spear casts a shadow of pain's wonder.

If the shine is stolen so is the air
as the breath which ignites is the pathway out
but more light is hidden deep within this lair
only for you to second guess what death is about.

When you've heard the hymn of soul's source
lament not that it be held fast
seek solace that rivers flow not needing know their course
and not all mysteries are built to last.
