“Into the Land of Three Dimensions” : Pen & Ink Drawing Series (Part 1)
Ego [noun] the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
Drawing the Ego : A Single Artist Exploring An Individual Idea
This “Ego” (part 1 of 4) is a precursor to our next collaborative drawing project, or as we refer to it; our “Id”. During this initial stage each of us has drawn on individual canvases. We completed four distinct Ego drawings that would later become a toolkit in building a new design logic for both our “Id” (collaborative drawing) and “Superego” (mural installation.)
In this drawing, Eric drew an extremely intricate decahedron geometry. The triangular folds that compose the decahedron appear in a surreal blend of 2D and 3D landscapes. Using pen and colored pencil, he created a geometric void that reveals four colors, cyan magenta, yellow and black. Eric's repetitive dot-art mountains and valleys become a meditation of texture that reveal different landscapes of ideas as you move about the drawing.

To think that this is all hand drawn, the dedication is amazing.
This one took countless hours. Eric is an absolute master of patience and craft. If you like the detail on this one, I think you're going to enjoy this Ego series... stay tuned for more obsessive ink-work ;)
