“Abduction” : Pen & Ink Drawing Series (Part 2)
Ego [noun] the part of the mind that mediates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity.
Below, a time lapse of Jeremy at work on an "Id" drawing. In this "Ego" drawing series, we extracted new themes and pursued our canvases individually, rather than all together on the same page. With this back-and-forth exercise we discovered new patterns and new identities. (For more on our collaborative artworks, click here!)
Drawing the Ego : A Singular Artist
“Ego” is the continuation of our collective “Id” series, represented through four individual drawings. Each of the four hands from the previous collaborative drawing project was given a template to proliferate within, allowing an individual to design the entire composition.
All four hands worked in retracting themes which had been embedded within the past series. The results are four distinct Egos, organizing themselves to discover a natural context, a vernacular form to inhabit and a distinct presence all their own.
Here is “Abduction” below:
“Abduction” is a 70cm x 70cm hand drawing made with pen and ink.
