Putting Our Works On The Street | Night I
Weeks ago, the young artists' group that I'm in had this idea of putting our works in a public place - basically on the streets - and sell them. We think that the Davao Art scene has been dominated by the senior artists so we thought of initiating this on our own, without the need to be in their shadows.
Three weeks ago, we had our public show at Roxas Street, just right across the Roxas Night Market. We gathered outside a closed printing shop in which the owner was very kind to allow us to. We started at 6 pm.
There were prints, stickers, paintings, drawings, t-shirts, and eco-friendly products that were for sale. I did put my stickers and prints there.
Our friends in the art circle went to visit us on our show. A busker named Empathy performed there, too. It was a fun gathering.
The main goal was to sell and at the same time initiate something without waiting for the senior artists to organize events. Small pop up shows like this will help encourage us to be aggressive with making works and having events. I have seen the teamwork needed for this and the first night was successful. We will do this for 4 nights every Saturday.
If I were there I would buy you one of your works, but we are very distant.
How much does the flower box that is in the lower right cost?
The one with the black background? Those are Maru's works. You can reach her out on Instagram if you want to buy one of her prints :D https://www.instagram.com/maruaart/
