Picasso always on the Top
Pablo Picasso continues to hold the first place in the auction houses, Christie's and Sotheby's and is attracting more and more Asian collectors. First on February 27th, Christie’s during the sale Impressionist and Modern Art in London, sold the painting Le Mousquetaire et nu assis (The Musketeer and nude seated) for 13.7 million of pound.
Mousquetaire et nu assis, dated '11.4.67', oil and Ripolin on canvas, 130 x 96.5 cm.
Le Mousquetaire et nu assis had sold in 2007 for 6 million pounds. For this new auction, the low estimate was double. The painting has certainly been sold, but without raising bidding battle. Still good invest, double in 10 years...
Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée, 4.12.1937, oil on canvas, 55 x 46cm.
On February 28th, this time at Sotheby's sale, two others Picasso's paintings was on sale. The Femme au béret et à la robe quadrillée (Woman in beret and checkered dress), dated 1937, was 49.8 million pounds. In the same sale, the Matador of 1970 left for 16.5 million pounds. This season has confirmed the renewed interest in late and very colorful Picasso. In 1988, the Center Pompidou organized the exhibition Le dernier Picasso (The last Picasso), focusing on the late works of the Catalan artist. In those years, such paintings were worth about $ 2 million. It's not only Bitcoin as a very profitable investment, there is also Picasso :-)
Le Matador, 23.10.70, oil on canvas, 146 x 114.3cm.
