Eye of Art #17 : Scott Listfield
I hadn't done a post Eye of Art for a long time but thanks to a new print by the artist Scott Listfield for Station 16 Gallery (Montreal), it's the perfect opportunity to discover this artist.
Skyline, giclée print, 2018
WHO
"I paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs.¨ - Scott Listfield
Born in Boston, Scott Listfield has his Bachelor of arts of Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH) in 1998. Then he spent some time living abroad, he returned to America in 2001 and began painting astronauts and dinosaurs and worked as designer at Twitter, PatientsLikeMe...
Now Scott Listfield is known for his paintings featuring a lone exploratory astronaut lost in a landscape cluttered with pop culture icons (source : his website).
I like his universe with this lonely astronaut in realistic landscapes.
He does also murals (not a lot for the moment, only 3) including this one in Lancaster (CA) closed to the Museum of Art and History :
WHAT
This new Giclée print Skyline (downtown Montreal) is a great reminder of his solo exhibition Astronaut at Station 16 Gallery in 2017.
Other paintings (pics from his website) :
Star Blazers, Oil on canvas, 2017
Brachiosaurus, Oil on canvas, 2017
What do you think of this artist ?
