All In One Stone (#93)
Light affects the minute estimate as well. In the dark time seems to pass more quickly than actually is the case. This is in line with psychologists' observations that in information-rich events time seems to be shorter and, conversely, when little or nothing is happening, time seems to be dragging on.
Michon: 'A period in which nothing substantially happens, ebbs away from memory. If afterwards one is asked how long this period lasted, there is no anchor for the retrieval. An information-rich event can grow into enormous proportions over the years: "I experienced so much, it must have lasted a long time."
