Art in Space - A new look at Jupiter - NASA’s Juno spacecraft taking amazing photos!

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I love space, i wish i was an astronaut.
I don't think i'll ever get a chance to leave the Earth, even as a space tourist.
Thankfully NASA have been working hard behind the scenes sending spacecraft out into the void to photograph these wonders for us.

If you haven't heard of the Juno spacecraft, it's currently orbiting Jupiter and sending back high resolution photographs like we've never seen before.

This image shows Jupiter’s south pole, as seen by NASA’s Juno spacecraft from an altitude of 32,000 miles (52,000 kilometers). The oval features are cyclones, up to 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) in diameter. Credits: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SwRI/MSSS/Betsy Asher Hall/Gervasio Robles

It's going to continue making passes over Jupiter until it's final approach sees it plunge into the clouds, sending back as many photos and other scientific information it can until it's crushed under the weight of Jupiters atmosphere.

Youtube user Seán Doran heightened the drama to the flyby sequence by adding Ligeti's musical score, most famously used in Stanley Kubrick 2001: A Space Oddessy.
It's both awe inspiring and horrifying! Watch the short video below:

There's one band of clouds in particular that remind me of the painting Dante and Virgil 1850 oil on canvas by William-Adolphe Bouguereau. The painting depicts Dante and Virgil looking on as two damned souls are entwined in combat. One of the souls is an alchemist and heretic named Capocchio. In this depiction Capocchio is being bitten on the neck by Gianni Schicchi who had used fraud to claim another man's inheritance.

So what do you think?
Is Jupiter home to something else?
Is this where the souls of the damned end up fighting each other in a mass of confusion and rage!?
Or is it just gasses being atmospheric gasses?
What do you see in the clouds of Jupiter?
Is this Heaven or Hell?

If nothing else, it's amazing and beautiful. It's the art of nature and the brilliance of humanity coming together.
What a time to be alive!

Beautiful pics and video of the planet....and a very interesting take on what the clouds /gasses represent to you :) :)

They are amazing - and it's only the beginning! Juno has a lot more passes to go before it's final approach.
Things are going to get even more interesting. Hold on to your helmets and buckle your seats!

“Every 53 days, we go screaming by Jupiter, get doused by a fire hose of Jovian science, and there is always something new,” said Bolton. “On our next flyby on July 11, we will fly directly over one of the most iconic features in the entire solar system -- one that every school kid knows -- Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. If anybody is going to get to the bottom of what is going on below those mammoth swirling crimson cloud tops, it’s Juno and her cloud-piercing science instruments.”

Well I am going to follow you and learn more about Jupiter for sure :) :)

NASA is a FRAUD and We NEVER Landed on the MOON..........NASA makes me PUKE

The moon landing is easily explained if you want to learn about it. The conspiracies are laughable, though enjoyable to ponder.
The reason we haven't gone back is because it's too expensive, too risky and we have the technology now to send spacecraft / robots in place of humans. Didn't have that luxury in the space race so man had to take the risks, not every trip was a success - especially for some early Russian cosmonauts.
But either way, you can't deny these photos unless you really want to keep your mind shut to reality.

I also love space, I dreamed of becoming an astronaut. I collect autographs of Soviet cosmonauts. I invite you to see my post with the retro space painting:
