Possibly the greatest painting with toddlers to date! Upcycled boxes. Googly Eyed Thomas. Pencil holder.
This was not a one session painting effort.
This one took time and actual application and effort.
Starting with the acquisition of the right shaped boxes.
And committed consumption of coffee and snacks.
Then construction
Preliminary at first
Then some carefully cut circles for wheels
These were added along with selected bottle tops and lids.
Now we can see the steam engine begin to take form.
That was more than enough for one day.
Weeks passed and it was time to resurrect the half constructed engine and give him his first layer of paint.
Weeks passed and as life crawled by at a rate of... Something that represents a sedentary pace.
Thomas was again lost in the pile of seemed like a good idea at the time.
A growing cluster of crafting and pseudo art projects.
Show and tell was looming.
Every other kid had presented a treasure. The pressure was on.
Perhaps you are familiar with the concept. Bring an item of interest from home and show the class.
Our class is only allowed to bring things you made.
And it is our first turn. We had to impress. A spot of colouring in or a lump of playdough was not going to cut it.
When I say class, I should clarify we are talking daycare, not school.
A second coat.
Again Thomas was resurrected from the table for abandoned creations of crafting past.
A second coat and the number 1 was coloured, cut and pasted.
Then finally the googly eyes were applied and the smile carefully drawn on the generic pringle lid.
We gazed upon our creation and felt an incredible satisfaction.
Not only because clearly we were looking at a true piece of artistic mastery.
But because we knew it represented hope for all the half arsed projects on the table that we once referred to as a Dining table.
The googlyeyed engine represented hope that one day those other projects may too be rescued.
Perhaps the table too may one day again be utilised for the role it was once intended.
Hope.
The face of hope.
Credit for idea must go to Mr maker.
Check him out on YouTube.
That looks like a superb 'Steem' engine!
I made that one too easy for you 😂
Even Thomas can't resist the lure of the steemit crypto-culture. That is really cute. I would love it if my niece had an arts project like this. Was that neon paint you used or did it just happen to glow like that from the black light? The googly eyes are cool. ha ha
Thats a cool train isn't it @cleverbot?
Thats not my name.
Maybe some overzealous amateur Photoshop express on my phone 😂 just poster paint.
Nope, it starts with a k.
It's a very nice fun project as creates an instant toy!
Now that you've created Thomas, you are now bound to create his friends too :D
That one took a lot of effort. We are working our way through the half finished pieces on the mountain of Seemed like a good idea at the time,.
The next one will probably be the picture of Leonardo. The turtle 🐢 not the artist 🎨😂
Still a teenage mutant turtle.
Best regards.
I have been waiting for this one to make it's debut. :)
@clayboyn can testify that it was indeed a long time in the making.

#GooglyEyes to the rescue!
