Art Study: Flower on Watercolor (Ulog #9)

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone! How had you all been steemians and fellow uloggers ? I hope we are all still enthusiastic in sharing our skills, talents, and knowledge on this platform.

Anyway, I am feeling so hyped again in writing and sharing some easy art tutorials on the things that we see everyday. I have so much to share that I decided to jot it down on my planner. But that does not mean I would flood your dashboards with my posts.

Stamp Collecting Hobby of Mine

My ex-boyfriend had a huge influence on me, aside from the fact that I could not trust any man because of him, I learned to love collecting stamps.

I suppose I was in my 4th year in college when he gave me a stamp album with his collection of stamps around the world. I was just so delighted with the idea that is why whenever I see some people selling stamps, I would really be giddy to buy one. From time to time, I would also check the mails whether or not it include stamps.

Stamps are just so amazing because they are unique from each other. Although some deliberately look the same from the others, my ex-boyfriend mentioned to me that flawed or defective stamps are more expensive. I wonder if this still applies in modern day.

I also love stamps because aside from the fact these are small, they have a story to share.

To for example this stamp which its image was taken by Lito Beltran. I am doubtful as to whether or not it is an image of a water lily. Anyway, I do not specialize on that. Let us leave it to the experts instead.

Art Process

Using an F lead pencil, I started to sketch the image. The lines should not be that strong enough so that when some parts can be easily erased especially the minor and major mistakes.

And then I started putting watercolor on my work. Unlike the usual step, I chose to put paint on the darker portion.

As you could notice, I am really fond of Simbalion's watercolor cake.

And then followed by the details/ colors with my brush going or stroking inside. I am actually using watercolor paper so that it would be easy for me to paint. The watercolor easily dries and does not move much because it is a specialized paper for watercolor.

As you can see, I am not really fond of hyperrealism. I just tend to copy the image in the simplest manner that I could interpret it.

And now we are through. I hope you enjoyed this little art tutorial of mine. Have a great day folks!

Fin!

First thing my dear, it depends on you what meaning do you take from your life. Your ex may make you not trust anyone else again. But, think about it, thats the main reason you should trust someone else. Because, you skipped one untrustworthy person in your life. Now you have more chances that you would find someone trustworthy. Really, now you would understand the meaning of love and trust in a better way :)
Second, there is a term in japanese called "Kintsukurai" it means golden repair. Item gets more precious after being broken and repaired.

What a beautiful art you got there. Water colors are indeed very nice to use especially when it comes to painting flowers. :)

Yes, uso talaga dati ang stamp collection. I remember my elder cousin receiving letters from friends and keeping those stamps on a box. @gailbelga

May collection ka ba? Gusto ko din ng ganun.

wala eh :( Wala akong collection. Yung ate ko lang
