The unfolding story of how I became a professional artist (week 19)
Hello everyone and thank you for checking out this week's submission. It was an interesting week of experimentation as I delve deeper into colors and their relationships. This week I played a bit at trying a more "loose" approach hoping for some spontaneity and trying to trust that my hand would take me there. There are always some that will find a spark in a piece of artwork and there were a few people that really liked some of the paintings I made this week. For me though I can't help but feel like the fruit is just out of reach. It's probably something that I will feel for life but I know there's something beyond that I can sort of understand but I haven't yet tasted it, so I don't know how to get there.
My first pass on going ultra loose. I guess you could say that "big shapes" is something I don't want to lose sight of so I'm attempting to simplify shadows and lights into massed shapes.
On this image I feel like I really did hit something with the blue and peach colors. It's very simple but easy to understand. The image below was kind of exciting for me as well. I think I just liked the pose.
The next two images I went back to my old habit of using the brush pen. I felt like form was lacking with my color work and I thought by adding more of that graphic look that I was used to the image would feel more solid.
Last but not least I decided to give color another chance and got this lovely subtle painting. I think if I would say anything at this point being so new to art and the different mediums it would be that anything and everything that's challenging is difficult at first. I've had a very rocky start to this new painting thing and it's little victories that give me the hope that one day I might actually be good at it. To anyone else out there starting on their path just keep going. The road can be a rocky one, at times really hard to continue, but enjoy the small victories and the journey. I think that's true for anything. We can all reminisce when we're older about how hard we fought for the things we love.
Enjoy your week!
