POISON [Inktober day 3]
I had a tough time figuring out this one. I'm trying to keep every prompt in the "environment" being the expressive element. So something like poison, which has many symbolic avenues becomes a serious challenge. How do I stray from skull and cross-bones and green vials of mystery fluid...
I came up with this little pond surrounded by poisonous mushrooms as my poison ink drawing. I know, I know, still literal - but, I was at a loss. After a few ideas I figured this would be the least obvious while still getting the idea across. I love these quick fire prompts because they force me to decide on something and move on it. One of the struggles with creating artworks is building the momentum to finish so I'm enjoying the daily challenge of these!
Feel free to check out my previous Inktober posts!
SWIFT, Inktober Day 1
DIVIDED, Inktober Day 2
Mr Jake Parker started the trend a few years ago and it's a great way to challenge yourself to pick up the pen everyday and to try and create good art habits. I encourage anyone who wants to participate to join in :)
Here is the prompt list from svslearn.com.
If you decide to post, include the #inktober and I'll be sure to check everyone's drawings out :D
Thank you for commenting, upvoting and taking the time to look. Love ya!
I didnt realise they were poisonous mushrooms until I read the explanation , but this is definitely a lovely image. It feels so calm in that forest!
Thanks @azbeen, I really liked the calm forest lake idea after watching princess mononoke recently. Thank you for the appreciation!
Lovely image. I love your a color palette and technique. Is that water color?
Sure is!! I used a water brush and a palette full of happy colors that I've been using lately. Thank you for commenting, I'm glad you enjoyed my image :)
Hehe my pleasure. I like the atmosphere you created. I did a few drawings with brush pens but I should try water color too. I have a story that requires an organic setting. That should fit right in!
