I'm feeling good, feeling oh so fine!

in #art8 years ago (edited)

It has now been almost five years ago, since Lou Reed passed away from liver disease in his home in East Hampton, New York, at the age of seventy-one. But for his fans his memory still lingers on in our minds in "mind-music-form", like a little loop from one of his songs here and there, to illustrate a moment in our lives, usually a good moment or at least an interesting moment, a bit like a "random mental soundtrack" I guess...

Today I was walking home and I was feeling pretty darn good, and as I got into my room, booted up my computer and logged into steemit, I felt great, better then I have felt in a long time, and in my head I could hear Lou Reed singing "I'm feeling good, feeling oh so fine..." this part was looping over and over in my mind, (it's a part of the Velvet Underground song "I'm Waiting For The Man")...

And I guess I just decided to write this post in honor of this incredible musician, singer and song writer. Who now lives on at least in my heart...

If you are not familiar with Lou Reed and his former band The Velvet Underground, you can listen here on youtube, lyrics and everything...

Excellent post about a truly great artist. These lyrics are so poignant, especially now that Lou has passed and is no longer with us.

He was a true master at capturing moments in his lyrics, and this one does so superbly, particularly in the context of the entire song.

Thanks for this post. This is the kind of worthwhile post that makes Steemit so wonderful, and which will take Steemit to new heights and greater success.

Cheers.

Thank you @majes.tytyty, yes his songs and voice was a true blessing! Glad you liked the post!

RIP Lou Reed. Incredible that it has been 5 years.

Well almost... Five years...
Did you hear the stuff he made with Gorillaz?
He was featured on their album "Plastic Beach" a pretty decent farewell i suppose...

Really well drawn , displays Lou Reed's personallity to best

Thanks @ayushthedreamer! =)
Just paraphrasing Andy Warhol a a bit, on some old envelope from some invoice...

Rockstar and the liver fails at 71? I'm impressed!

Yeah, he was quite surprised about living so long, (or at least thats what I heard)...

When a musician who's had such a big influence on us goes, it's just like losing a family member. Thankfully there are memories that can be replayed any time you need them. Nice artwork, too! I thought it was a flyer for a show. Well designed!

Hey @phedizzle nice to see you in these parts!
Yeah, the drawing, I paraphrased an old Andy Warhol piece a bit with my new markers, and threw it into the scanner then I fixed it a bit in photoshop, wanted a crude look... Thanks for the feedback it made me really happy! Yeah, the memories live on...

I'm glad to find more and more Lou Reed fans on Steemit! I'm following you ;)

Thanks, yeah it is hard not to be a fan... =)
