JWildfire: lesson 9 Anti-Aliasing/Filter tab

in #art7 years ago (edited)

Hello!
We continue to study the bottom panel with tabs in JWildfire. Previous lesson.

Go to the Anti-Aliasing/Filter tab:

In this tab, you configure the anti-aliasing settings.
Spatial oversampling. According to my observations, the higher the value of the parameter, the better the image quality, the smoother transition of colors, less "noise", but the longer it is done.
Below images with the values of the parameter 1 and 5:

One can say unequivocally that if you want an image of good quality - the value of this parameter should be from 4 and above.

Filtering and Filter kernel - here you can select the type of filtering. I usually do not change the default. But you can experiment. I'll try to expose something else:

Result:

The image turned out a little different, but worse or better, this can not be said, so filtering should be selected according to your taste.

The next parameter is Filter radius - the radius of the filter. The default value is almost in the middle.
I will change the settings to show the effect of this parameter:
Below the average:

Middle:

8828.png

And I'll try to set the value more than the standard value:

8829.png

By the result we can say that it is not worthwhile to expose the parameter less than the standard value.

Sharpness indicator
The default value is 4. I'll try to do less and more.
Less:

Middle:

And more:

8832.png

The difference is so subtle that you probably can not touch this parameter and leave the default value, although the last picture seemed to me softer, with more rounded outlines of lines.

Low density The default slider is almost at the beginning of 0.025.
I'll try to add it.

8833.png

I do not see a difference, I think, too, you can not touch this parameter.

Antialiasing amount and Antialiasing radius - the smoothing value and its radius.
The default values are 0.25 and 0.5, respectively.
I'll try first to increase the anti-aliasing value:

8834.png

The difference is almost not noticeable, the lines became a little smoother.

And increase the value of the radius:

8836.png

With the increase in both these parameters, a slight blurred image appeared, so I do not think it's worth much to increase, but I usually put a little more than the standard value, I shift the sliders to about the middle.

I'll show one more example for an example.
Standard values for smoothing and radius:

8837.png

Increased anti-aliasing and radius values:

8838.png

Here the difference is better visible. The lines and points are quite far apart. Therefore, for a fractal, in which there are separate distinct lines, the smoothing parameter should not be increased.

Noise threshold - noise threshold. Activated when ticking Post noise reduction.

The result at a value of 0.5:

I find the image only worse from this parameter.

At the very end, there is a useful Reset button that returns the values of all parameters to the default ones.
