Pixel Art TV Shows

in #art6 years ago

How often have you discovered something awesome, great art online and wished that the artist was on Steem?

Anybody who has followed me for a while knows that a large part of my (online) activities consist of curating. In fact, we all are curators, no matter whether you opt to read your news in the Guardian or whether you get your daily fix from TMZ or other tabloids. Everybody constantly curates what they want to read.

As the Internet, and social media, has evolved the strange but admirable resilience of email has led to a renewed focus on newsletters, which seem to have become an alternative to the good old news river offered by RSS and so every day I tend to open 30-35 curated newsletters with (hopefully) interesting links. Some are focused on general geekery, things a geek tends to like and that's how I found the amazing pixel art TV shows by Isreal based Behance member Gustavo Viselner.

Like many Steemians, of course, I had the same thought I often have when I discover awesome art - or when comic artists share work-in-progress sketches on Twitter: this should have been on Steem and the artist should have reaped rich rewards!

Gustavo describes himself as a pixel artist and has made pixel art of several popular TV shows, some more recent than other ones.

My name is Gustavo Viselner, I'm a pixel artist.
Pixel-Art is an art formed by lack, emerging back in the happy 8-bit days of the 80's. It is a foundation stone of video gamer's folklore.
For me, pixel art is no longer just a graphic tool for games, but a form of art that can stand out without having a video game to support it.

As can be seen in the small selection of art pieces shown in this post he has done Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Narcos. But that isn't all and one should definitely head over to Gustavo's Pixel Art TV Behance gallery and discover many more awesome pixel art pieces.

While I understand the value of building commercial portfolios or just general art portfolios, on platforms such as Behance, DeviantArt, Dribble and others, the world - and specifically (digital) artists - need decentralized alternatives, preferably with Steem's unique rewards principle integrated.

The availability of such platforms, complete with a high focus on displaying first and foremost the artworks would make convincing artists to give Steem a try much easier a task too.

All images shown in this post are copyright Gustavo Viselner and shown within the principle of Fair Use and to highlight Gustavo's awesome work, which can be seen at his Behance profile.

These are fantastic. It's a real skill to get results like these with pixel art.

Thanks for your comment, @jozefkrichards. Glad you like the selection and hope you enjoyed the other pieces too.

WOW. this is damn cool.

Have you gotten in touch with him to persuade him to join the blockchain?

Not yet, don't have that much energy/focus yet. Also, I have to admit I have tried to get many an artist on Steem and I have epically failed so far.

Unless there is an interface totally geared towards building a (digital) portfolio it will be a struggle.
