I hope you liked the first blog post about Banknote art: Imperial Russia 500 Rubles 1912. Today, for the second post, I bring you a bank note from Colombia.
Banknote Art: Colombia 20 Pesos Oro 1975
In the image: Francisco José de Caldas, Colombian lawyer, military engineer, self-taught naturalist, mathematician, geographer and inventor (he created the first hypsometer)
Notice the nice design of animals in the globe and the zodiac signs in the outer ring. He is very well dressed as well
Notice the very nice decoration, I think they are representing Coffee plants. Please correct me if I am wrong about the plant.
The back of the bill if beautiful filled with Pre-Columbian art and crafts.
These pieces in real life would be in a museum. Very nice drawings.
