Delicious Ancient Egypt (Fusion 360 tutorial + 3D printing/ part 1)

I made once a 3D Egyptian pyramid that supposed to be a lip balm and body butter container. When I printed it out, it failed at the opening. So I got the inspiration to make this delicious ancient Egypt from my 3D Egyptian pyramid that I made before.

This Delicious Ancient Egypt has the symbols that I thought was interesting to add:

Nefertiti

Eye of Horus

Ankh

Serpent's head

Camel

Some triangles (pyramids)

Tutorial (Fusion 360)

I sketched a rectangle of 15 x 8 cm. I inserted the 4 DXF files from my previous design that I posted before (3D Egyptian pyramid lip balm + Bodybutter container). So inserted the Nefertiti, Ankh, Eye of Horus and Serpent's Head. The Camel came later as I had to find a camel image from the internet and traced the camel with Spline. Tracing the camel took me 30 minutes... :-(

The rectangle I extruded with 6 mm. The sketched symbols I extruded with 5 mm thick. They were not at the place I wanted to have them yet.

Here I moved the symbols at the place I wanted and added the camel. I did them randomly without any order.

It looks nice already but I missed a WOW factor that would spice it up MORE.

I decided to sketch some triangles that represents the pyramids. Not they look exactly like the pyramids, but that's okay.
Sometimes we need to change things to give it our own twist ;-).

I hided the symbols and extruded the sketched triangles with 5 mm operation Join.

It looks much better now BUT there was one little detail missing.

I sketched a line on the side and split it ( Split Body) and change the appearance in white cream colour.

Now it has 3 colours. When printing it needs to be of course 1 body. This is just for rendering. I combined everything, including the symbols.

3D Printing

I forgot to make a GIF of the printing process because I turned on the 3D printer at the moment I wanted to go to bed. :-(. Printing time was 5 hours 35 minutes. I didn't sleep good with the 3d printer on. I closed all doors but I still could hear the noise. That's very often the case when you are a light sleeper like me. :-(

See you in my next post, part 2!

This is really awesome, am learning how to design in Fusion 360, looking to learn from you alot alot

;-). thank you.

wow so many different perspective in one place of ancient Egypt nice and really amazing :)

:-) thank you!

ooooh.... when are you opening a luxury custom chocolate shipping service ? I want in XD

I hope it's delicious when you finish it. (I assume you're not eating the 3D print directly ;) ).

May I ask, what is sndbox ?

I've seen you use the tag a lot, and saw you comment about it being some kind of paid service at one point. is it something for makers ?

hahaha! that sounds like an idea @pbock! sndbox is a community like utopian. you have to get nominated by another sndbox member. there are rules: minimum 300 words per post, fee is 40 sbd per month. but they will select people. You can look at sndbox.co for further information. I believe they have enough members now, but I am not sure, Let me know what their answer will be so I can nominate you.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it.

Though I don't have 40 SBD so that probably won't work XD

They will upvote your posts ;-)

I'll definitely have a look into the concept then.

Been reading a bit. Sounds interesting.
I'tll have to wait till most of my Uni projects are done though. We're about to enter the last month before we do our 6 month internship and write our thesis 😱

Pretty awesome it sure seems pretty great ;)

That's very creative 3D project. Also excellent introducing with tutorials how to make these project.

Wow.... Delicious Ancient Egypt would be awesome design. So creative work. Well explained there with perfect lesson post. Great service to community.

Awesome, I need to get me a 3D printer.

thanks @justinsane. Yes, we need more 3d designers here on steemit.

A 3d printer could very well be my next investment. Could you recommend an entry level 3d printer? Kind regards J #CryptoRising

I used the Original Prusa 3d printer, but im not so technical. I just design using Fusion 360.

I’ve my printer in the room 4 doors from the sleeping room, that’s barely far enough :)

hahaha :-). the prusa is in the kitchen now. I could still hear it upstairs. my ears are very sharp, the right one at least.
