So - after my late night brain-dump of all the things I wanted to tell you about yesterday, I realise this morning that they are probably better separated out into a few different posts! So to start with...
I got some more lovely feedback from a customer I drew this portrait for. It was for her mum for Christmas, and is a memorial portrait, as this beautiful dog has passed away. I've got to say that I shed a little tear when I was drawing this piece - she has just got such gentle eyes, I couldn't help imagining how much her owners must be missing her.
My customer contacted me last night to let me know that her mum had loved the piece- and that it was such a good likeness, she had cried on receiving it. I've had this happen before with memorial portraits, and it never fails to touch me that I've managed to create something that means so much to the owner - and that hopefully brings a little bit of comfort to them. This was a huge compliment, as the source photograph for this was a phone photo taken of a tiny little snapshot rather than the clear, digital source images I'm used to! I'm excited to say that my customer has booked me in for another piece later this year. So it's smiles all around for me this morning.
It can feel really big-headed to share these moments, but it's one of the things I want to do this year- to make sure that I celebrate the good things, the successes and positivity that comes into my life. I'm prepared to bet that positivity is catching- and something we all need as much of as possible :)
Hope you all have a happy day - I'll be back later to share some more news.
All my love,
