Gangster, pirate, mime and the animated statue of the organ grinder (musician) and many others can be seen on January weekends in Kharkov at the festival of street art. I spent the last weekend there and want to share with you my impressions.

To begin with, I was there not accidentally, but together with my friends from the studio "Artel MIF", who represented my hometown of Sumy at this festival. It was interesting for me to observe the work of artists and the reaction of the public to it. I saw them earlier on the central street of our city, but work in the premises of the shopping center is a completely different conditions and another audience.

There are many people here, cheerful and sad, concerned about their own affairs, making daily purchases or walking around the shops. Many of them simply pass by, but some stop and wait, trying to understand whether it really is a statue or a living person.
Sometimes a rather large crowd can be gathered in this way, until the most curious man throws a pair of coins into the hat and then a motionless statue comes to life.

At this moment, all present are witnessing a miracle - you are greeted by a strict gentleman and bold maritime robber, you are sighted by an American gangster, and the organ-grinder slowly turns the key and a melody is born from the old instrument.

This statue, entitled "Mr. Show Time," represented the city of Sumy. Its creator, Dmitry Buival, has repeatedly and successfully participated in such all-Ukrainian and international festivals, albeit with other costumes.
Also as part of the Sumy team "Artel MIF" there are the Mime and B-boy. It is worth noting that for Mime it was almost a debut. (Sorry for quality, he was in motion all the time).

Prior to the Kharkov festival, he had only a couple of performances in this role in his hometown. But, judging by the reaction of the public, he does his job good. Several children even treated him with sweets, it looked so cute:)

Unfortunately, I can not show you our B-Boy now, his performance will be during the next weekend (Jan 19-21).

The next three guys are the Kharkov collective "Iron Mask"
The pirate performed by Dmitry Mikheev was the winner of last year's festival. It's a very picturesque character as you can see. After winning last year, he spent a lot of time abroad, particularly showing performances in Vietnam and Qatar.

This respectable gentleman is actually a costume designer and the father of our pirate. Inspired by his son, he decided to try himself as a street actor. Yes, sometimes our kids can teach us something useful.

In fact, the living of the statue surprised not only children, but adults as well, and there were many people wishing to take photos or selfie with them.

Some tried to talk to actors, but the boys remained silent and kept the image. Probably, it was not easy for them to stand silently and motionless in one posture for several hours. Maybe that is the reason why there are no women among them:-)

Since this is a competition, then of course the actors are evaluated not only by the visitors of the shopping center, but also by the jury, professional actors. And of course there will be prizes for the winners. But so far it was only the first week of the festival and its first members. Two more weeks are ahead in Kharkov and 4 in the Dnieper, as well as new participants from the Dnieper, Minsk and Zhitomir. I'll try to keep you informed.

Гангстера, пирата, мима и оживающую статую шарманщика можно увидеть январскими выходными в Харькове на фестивале уличного искусства. Я провела там прошлый уикенд и хочу поделиться с вами своими впечатлениями.

Начну с того, что я оказалась там не случайно, а сопровождала моих друзей из студии "Артель МИФ", которые представляли мой родной город Сумы. Мне было интересно наблюдать за работой артистов и за реакцией публики на нее. Я видела их ранее на центральной улице нашего города, но в работа в помещении торгового центра это совсем другие условия и другая публика.

Здесь много людей, веселых и грустных, озабоченных своими делами, совершающих ежедневные покупки или гуляющих по магазинам. Многие из них просто проходят мимо, но некоторые останавливаются и ждут, пытаясь понять действительно ли это статуя или же живой человек.
Иногда таким образом может собраться довольно большая толпа, пока один самый любопытный не кинет в шляпу пару монет и тогда неподвижная статуя оживает.
В этот момент все присутствующие становятся свидетелями чуда - вас приветствуют строгий джентльмен и дерзкий морской разбойник, вас берет на прицел американский гангстер, а шарманщик неспешно поворачивает ключ и из старого инструмента рождается мелодия.

Эта статуя под названием "Мр. Шоу-тайм" представляла город Сумы. Ее создатель Дмитрий Буйвал уже неоднократно и успешно участвовал в подобных всеукраинских и международных фестивалях, правда, с другими костюмами.

Также в составе сумской команды "Артель МИФ" присутствуют мим и Би-бой.
Стоит отметить, что для мима это был почти дебют. До харьковского фестиваля у него было всего пару выступлений в этом амплуа в его родном городе. Но, судя по реакции публики, он отлично справляется. Несколько детей даже угостили его конфетами.
К сожалению, я не могу показать вам Би-боя, его перфоманс будет в следующий уик-енд.

Следующие трое ребят представляют собой харьковский коллектив "Железная маска"
Пират в исполнении Дмитрия Михеева был победителем прошлогоднего фестиваля, очень колоритный персонаж. После победы в прошлом году он много времени провел за границей, в частности показывая перфомансы во Вьетнаме и Катаре.

Этот почтенный джентльмен на самом деле художник по костюмам и отец нашего пирата. Вдохновленный примером сына, он решил попробовать себя в роли уличного актера.

Американский гангстер так и остался для меня загадкой, поэтому я просто сфотографировала его еще раз
На самом деле, живие статуи удивляли не только детей, но и взрослых, и было очень много желающих сделать фото с ними.

Некоторые пытались поговорить с актерами, но ребята молчали и сохраняли образ.Наверное, нелегко было им простоять молча и неподвижно в одной позе несколько часов. Может потому среди них нет женщин.

Поскольку это конкурс, то конечно же актеров оценивают не только посетители торгового центра, но и жюри, профессиональные актеры. И конечно же будут призы для победителей. Но пока что это была только первая неделя фестиваля и его первые участники. Впереди еще 2 недели в Харькове и 4 в Днепре, а также новые участники из Днепра, Минска и Житомира.
