The Art of wood carving has existed for a long time in the history of Aceh

In the Culture and daily life of the Aceh people, the wood has a very important role to fulfill the necessities of life both for food needs and for shelter

The vast, biodiverse rich forest of Aceh produces a wide variety of high quality timber, so to date, there are still a lot of people's homes, especially those living in villages and rural areas, using wood as their base material.

To beautify the look of wood, carving wood is one of the cheapest alternative, because the art of wood carving is a science from generation to generation which has been controlled for a long time by some people of Aceh

Meanwhile, for people living in urban areas, they started using concrete materials for their residential buildings, because of the difficulty of supplying timber and for the sake of saving forests, but even so, they still use wood as a complement to the building and wood carving as part of ornaments and furnishings.
