Rainbow over Stanley Park

in #art7 years ago (edited)

I saw a rainbow over the mountain mist which was an amazing start to my day. I love the silvery lights over the Pacific Ocean, they make me daydream as they remind me of the Silver City of Never Ending Story 2. Rainbows are truly a magical thing, they exist in an ephemeral reality between sunsine and rain. They make me believe in fairies again, existing at the verge of our own dimension.

After a fitness session with a crowd living with Alzheimer's which went very well, i took my bike to my next job. The gorgeous scenery caught my attention on my way there. I only had this one fellow quebecker attend. We danced, did some body toning with dumbbells and core after which I fit in a little workout of my own, pumping weights. I did some pecs and lats as well as some physio for my weak calf. I made 3 minutes and a half standing on the toes of a single leg. My record is 4. I have a color system to motivate me. The first minute and a half is in the green, the next minute is yellow, the next 30 seconds is red and the last two 30 seconds are purple and raibow respectively. They count as bonus levels. Today, I got to rainbow, what a source of pride. I'm also happy that I could teach in french, it had been a while.

My painting and Drawing class started at 6:00 PM, I had some time to kill so I went to see my photographer friend for a burrito. We talked about a common friend who is in a legal battle over an indie movie. Ben doesn't think it is wise to hold an excellent piece of art hostage especially when it's unlikely to make money on the first place. Indie movies don’t tend to make a lot of money generally speaking.

I came up with a photo concept about the Japanese Canibal, a very famous psychopath who murdered a classmate at La Sorbone. The french system failed to incarcerate him due to their stance on mental illness. They were still expecing Japan to see to it that justice is done however. When he went back to Japan you might as well say he hot away scott free. I can see the cannibal sitting alone in his apartment with a dark a small fridge behind him dripping with blood. Another image that fascinates me about this case is the moment when he tried to dump the body at Bois de Boulogne. He was carrying the pieces in a rolling suitcase drawing a lot of attention almost like he wanted to get caught. You could say that Ben is ready when I am if I want to portrai a caucasian version of this sinister character who actually came back home a hero. Do porn stars count as heroes? I'm going to keep thinking of ideas for this photo shoot but my friend is excited to work with me. He sure has a lot of gear but I get the feeling he wont settle for anything short of a great concept and well, that’s much easier said than done.

Lastly, for my first Painting and Drawing class this term, I had the student draw as though they were still children, asking them to remember what it's like. It was very interesting; a lot of people drew houses and I do feel like I succeeded in bringing them back to a place they had forgotten. A time before judgement stiffled their creativity and when they would do it for the sheer pleasure. I had them introduce themselves as I was holding the drawing up for everyone to see and I made sure to ask a few questions like: what is your favorite food or what is your favorite outdoor activity? I love this occasion to get to know each other better it only happens once a term. After this, we drew exquisite corpses which consist of drawing on a folded section of a piece of paper, carrying the lines of your drawing on to the next section and hide your part of the drawing. As the next person takes over, they get to continue your drawing without knowing what the other segments look like because of how the paper is folded in 4 length wise. Here is what this amazing bunch of people turned out.

Sometimes with a new group I can get a few people who are unsure about drawing and who I have to win over and even some people who I just can't, they typically drop out. Not today, I was met with motivation, humility and desire to learn. I can't ask for more than for them to be excited about the upcoming projects which I briefly covered. Usually I teach watercolor but this term I opened it up to acrylics.
