"Ithaqa" Comic Book Update #200 Big Update!

Happy 200th update everyone! To celebrate, I included a bunch of extra pages! Steem itself seems to be pleased with our update, as it has climbed back up to 30 cents-ish!

This scene reveals that Margaret has found her work as a telephone operator to be uninspiring, to say the least, and that all the pulp detective novels she reads at work have wormed their way into her brain.

I feel that Margaret is a disappointed woman. She marched with the suffragettes, earned the right to vote, and then found herself relegated to mundane labor in one of the few jobs society deemed "appropriate" for women.

If people thought it was laughable for a woman to be an astronaut in the 70's, I can't even imagine what a 1920's conversation about job prospects would have looked like.

Margaret might be the character who has benefitted most from these rewrites. A lot of her history is filled in, and we start to scratch at her hopes and fears. I hope she survives this first big adventure she's set out on. Margaret will make a damn fine gumshoe if she makes it through to the other side of this mystery.

I love how you delve into the times' cultural and societal set ups and how they'd affect your characters, so so so much. Margaret seems to be a window through which we can understand how a woman would feel in the 1920s... Gorgeous characterization work <3

Love the pages, as usual. The dynamics between the characters are always so palpably captured with the expressive body languages and flow of the panels <3

Thank you! Theresa does a wonderful job with the illustration, and Lisa (my editor) keeps me on track with my character's inner life.

And I'm working hard to inhabit each of my characters! I'm doing my best to understand who they are and what they want :)

Hey mate, happy new year and I hope the road is paved with gold for your comic. I have missed your latest updates, I guess this is about issue #3 or #4 now, right? How are things coming together with Ithaqa? Any chance we will see a finished/published issue this year? I am so intrigued by your story and can't wait to read through it :)

So actually, we paused at Issue 3, to go back and revamp issue 1. So all of these pages you're seeing, are new ones for the first issue.

We used @fundition to pay Theresa for all of the new pages, and as such we will be releasing a digital copy of the first comic, for free for all of steemit.

Writing-wise I had finished the whole book, but have had to make massive changes/cuts in order to tell a batter story. Right now I'm up to issue 5 in terms of writing.

Glad you're back!

Awesome, I swung by your instagram, and I am a fan of your coloring aswell! I´ll buy some as soon as the money allows me :-)

Thank you so much for your support! Luckily this comic will be released for free to all steemit users because of this platform's continued support for our art.

There will be an opportunity to send money along to us in the future when we do a physical print run!

Until then, keep steeming!
