The brain of a racing driver in a robotic body in the series "My Greatest Adventures". Part 1

Hello!

Now we will talk about the Robotman. His real name is Clifford "Cliff" Steele.

The action takes place on Earth-One. Clifford is a famous racing driver of the fifties. During a race in Europe, a car accident happens where Cliff burns to the ground.

Waking up, Steele sees a scientist in a wheelchair in front of him. The latter is introduced by Doctor Niles Caulder, known as the Chief. He tells the main character that after that accident, only his brain remained. Looking at himself in the mirror, Clifford learns that Niles has placed his brain in a robotic body. Cliff realizes that now he will not be able to: physically feel anything, eat and sleep. So Steele becomes a Robotman.

Later, the main character, after learning that he is in Midway City, decides to leave and try to live a normal life. When Clifford comes to the slalom, everyone pays attention to him and starts insulting and humiliating him in every possible way.

Realizing that he is now a freak, Cliff returns to the "Caulder Mansion" and locks himself in his new room.

A few days later, the Chief introduces Steele to people who have experienced similar tragedies. They are:

  • Rita Farr, known as the Elasti-Girl
  • Larry Trainor, known as the Negative Man
    • Negative Spirit

Niles invites them to experience amazing superhero adventures. They refuse. Caulder promises Robotman, Larry and Rita that he will help them cope with their shortcomings and direct them in the right direction. They will become a team of superheroes fighting evil that even the Justice League does not notice. All three agree. The Chief shows the team his mansion, which turned out to be the headquarters for monitoring everything that happens in the world. Becoming the leader of the team, Niles turns on the news, where they say that someone has planted a time bomb on the North Street pier. The explosives are in one of the boxes, but the detectors could not detect it. Caulder says it's a good chance to test the team. He tells the Negative Spirit to come out and bring the bomb here. When this happens, the main character sees a Negative Man faint. The Chief, holding the explosives with his shaking hands, tells Farr to shrink down and try to clear it. Clifford, risking his new life, takes the bomb from Niles. As a result, the Elasti-Girl manages not to let the others explode. Feeling hopeful, all three decide to become a team of heroes and continue to save people.

Caulder decides that they are ready for the first real mission. He shows the others a secret photo of an alien spaceship containing the deadliest device that no one knows about. The Chief thinks that someone from another planet noticed the flares of nuclear tests and sent a drone ship into Earth orbit to investigate us, but made an emergency landing. One of the items on that ship is a machine capable of turning any matter into atomic fuel. This could mean limitless fuel for humanity. Also, this fuel can be used to create a large enough bomb to destroy all the planets of our solar system.

The team's goal is to get that car off the ship before anyone else gets to it.

Niles also warns Steele, Larry and Rita that they may be thwarted by his old powerful enemy - General Immortus - a man as old as the world. Before the trio leaves, Caulder attaches a walkie-talkie and a camera to the Robotman's chest.

Arriving at the wreck site on a private plane, the team sees that the automatic protection system has been activated. A tank firing a laser comes out of the drone. Flying out of Trainor, the Negative Spirit tries to turn off the tank, but, instead, blinds him. Taking advantage of this, Farr increases and breaks the laser cannon. When the Spirit returns to the body of a Negative Man, another tank with a freezing cannon leaves the ship. Resisting freezing, the main character inserts his hand into the barrel of the tank, thereby overloading it. As a result, the tank explodes. When Clifford thaws completely, the Chief informs the team that Immortus is somewhere nearby. Once on board the ship, the crew sees a bunch of electronic equipment and the purpose of their arrival. While carrying out the atomic converter, Cliff and Larry hear General Immortus, speaking on the radio, telling the heroes to surrender or die. Deciding not to listen to him and prepare for a possible attack, the Elasti-Girl shrinks and climbs into Steele's body. Exiting the ship, the Robotman sees Immortus in a tank, which immobilizes him with a polarizing beam. Entering the ship, General Immortus wants to deal with Trainor and the Negative Spirit; Rita gets out of the main character and imperceptibly turns off the beam. Clifford quickly knocks out the people of Immortus, and then himself, in order to free the Spirit and the Negative Man. At this moment, the self-destruct mode of the drone is activated. The heroes carry the converter on board their plane, and General Immortus tries to fly away on a closed ship. When the plane leaves, the drone explodes, along with the Immortus.

The next day, Larry says that the newspapermen nicknamed their team the "The Doom Patrol". The heroes like this name, and they decide to be called that.

I hope you enjoy it.
