Sketch to Digital

  Hi guys, this is my first post on Steemit. I'm 23 and very interested in the graphic community and also excited to see what kind of feedback I get with my artwork. This particular piece I can take you through the process and if all goes well then I can follow up with more drawings. I like to take my sketches and enhance them in either Photoshop or Illustrator. In this particular piece I used the brushes in Photoshop.

    Here is the original sketch, and as you can see I have brought it into Illustrator and traced my basic shapes with the pen tool. You could trace the sketch line itself but I find it easier if you draw out the whole object so if you need to manipulate it later on it will be easier to do so (That's why there are the lines through his body for the chair, window and table, I also made the hair a separate shape for this reason). But anyway it turned out that I didn't like how this particular piece came out in Illustrator, however if you were to do it there this part is crucial to bring color and versatility.    

Instead as you can see from my first picture I started using the brushes in Photoshop and lowered the opacity so that my sketch lines still came through. Then its just color preferences and getting your color stokes to blend and add depth. I mainly did this through varying the opacity of my different brush strokes along with darker colors where appropriate.
