My Illustrations for a German Horror Anthology - never published before!

in #art7 years ago

Welcome to the Darkness

: I know, this stuff is quite uncommon for me but when a good publisher friend of mine asked me if I want to do the illustrations for an upcoming Horror Anthology it made me very curious.

Normally I am much more into the light than into the darkness, but since both are two extremes of the same thing, I thought that maybe I can transfer my style into a much darker approach to the images.

I love subtle horror a lot, the dark psychological aspect of it. So I was very thrilled to read the amazing stories of the german writer Michael Siefener, whose Anthology I have to enrich with a visual counterpart.

This project is not finished yet but you are about to see the first pieces...

I would like to know which one you would chose for the COVER?

"Teufelsbraut" | 40cm x 60cm | acrylics on canvas

"Shadowman" | 40cm x 60cm | acrylics on canvas

"Herr Rosenbusch" | 40cm x 60cm | acrylics on canvas

"Mindsucker" | 40cm x 60cm | acrylics on canvas

I am more into light too but you did an excellent dark art here! :)

Haha Thank you :-) Warriors of light....yeah!

Wow, man. I always get stunned by your art and now is no different. The "Book Of Sorrow" is an absolute favorite. If it makes it to the cover it will be bookception :D book inside a book. I also really like "Herr Rosenbusch". It has an uncommon contrast, as it is very gentle and still the face gives a touch of horror. Thanks a million for sharing your amazing work!

;-) Bookception....I like that, funny! Thanks for your words!

Mindsucker. I prefer covers that have heavy details but good balance. I also enjoy the perspective.

Interesting....could work, yes!

Although I do not know the theme for this anthology, Mindsucker impressed me and would be my choice for cover. The primal white spirits make a contrast with the "modern" building.

Daphne is the most scary of the bunch though. And my personal favorite is Book of Sorrows, because ancient books containing blasphemous lore that drives readers to madness is my soft spot!

Ah....Thank you! Maybe the Mindsucker piece really has some cover qualities...I havent thought of this one before 😉

Hu! Wow! ;) I like the Shadownman. Really scary! And Daphne is also great. especially with the light. Antichrist is my third favorite picture. Have a great day :)
