Boy Beach! Oil Figure Painting
After years of studying anatomy drawing, I found myself at the beach observing a group of friendly guys at Boy Beach in Provincetown, Massachusetts. They were having so much fun and didn't look bad doing it, so I took several photos to try to paint them later. I had trouble deciding which image or images to use, and finally chose one where they are well posed and each face is visible. The one to the left has a cute smile and they are laughing at a joke. It's a cute scene. I hope to paint some of the other scenes as well.
This was challenging. I spent time doing a drawing in pencil, then when I was happy with it, I transferred it to a canvas. To do this, I painted the back of a sheet of paper, and placed the paint against the canvas. Then, I used a knitting needle to impress the image onto the canvas by following the lines.
Once the image was on the canvas, I began the painting:
