Ghizer District situated in north of Gilgit.
It joins with Wakhan strip on its north-west, and China on its north most borders.
On its west, there is Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Its capital is Gakuch. It is multi ethnic district and four major languages are spoken. Shina, Khowar, Burushaski and Wakhi. In Ghizer is a famous and beautiful lake is called Phunder lake which is famous for Trout.
Ghizer is connected to Chitral via Shandur pass( highest Polo ground in the world) and Gilgit which is well connected by air with Islamabad( weather dependent) and by road with Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Skardu. You can take a flight to Gilgit from the capital of the country and reach Ghizer.

A disputed territory between the two neighboring countries of Pakistan and India, Gilgit Baltistan is an administrative territory located in the northern part of Pakistan. The territory stretched over a 72,000 square kilometer radius and is home to an estimated 2 million people.
The capital of the Gilgit Baltistan province is Gilgit and is divided into several divisions: Gilgit (Gilgit, Diamer, Ghizer, Astore, Hunza-Nagar districts) and Baltistan (Ghanche, Shigar, Kharmang, and Skardu districts). Tourism is the lifeline of the area’s economy.
Tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan is a highly mountainous area that is home to more than five mountain peaks that are more than 8,000 meters in height and about fifty others that are above 7,000 meters. Gilgit Baltistan has the famous Karakoram (famous for the K2 Mountain Peak) and the Western Himalayas, which attract thousands of tourists to the area every year.
The territory also features three of the world’s longest glaciers outside Antarctica and also the second highest plateau in the world (Deosai Plains). It is also famous for various lakes at high altitudes; some of the other amazing tourist attractions in the territory include the Nanga Parbat peak, the Khunjerab National Park, the Machiara National Park and the famous K2 Peak.
