Is Religion For-Profit?_ 종교는 돈이 되는가라고 묻는다면.

In 21st century, religious icons that used to provoke meditation and prayers have turned to be logos for branding. Faith becoming idol worshipping is nothing new in history of Christianity. Torah confirms such history of Israel. Jesus "cleaned the temple" by driving out those who were making a temple a marketplace. He claimed that his temple is a house of prayer. There, he answers my question. Religion is not for-profit, believing in God does not bring me million dollar checks.
21세기에 들어서, 이콘들은 명상과 기도가 아닌 브랜딩을 위한 로고가 되어버렸는지도 모르겠습니다. 십자가가 우상의 상징이 되는 것이 얼마나 쉬운 일인지, 몇몇 기독교인들은 분명 알고 있으실거에요. 신앙이 우상숭배가 되는 것은 기독교 역사에서 그다지 새로운 일이 아니거든요. 구약의 이스라엘의 이야기도, 예수님이 성전을 정화하실때의 절박함과 분노도 그 역사를 증거합니다. 거기 해답이 있죠. 신앙은 돈이 되지 않아요. 하나님을 믿는 것이 저에게 백만 불짜리 수표를 가져다주지 않습니다. 그래서도 안되고요.

But, what are false desires? Money is real as hell.
자, 그럼 제 마음을 들여다볼꺼에요. 흔히 종교인들이 하는 말이 있죠. 그대의 마음은 헛된 욕심으로 가득차 있어서, 진리와 의미를 담지 못하는게 아닌가요?
그런데, 헛된 욕심이라는게 뭘까요. 돈은 존나 실제적인데말이에요.

My heart is covered with false desires. Attached, so tightly like a plastic sheet cover of market products. So the soul cannot breath so well. It cannot listen and see so well.
Money suffocates me.
아, 제 마음은 돈으로 채워진게 아니에요. 제 마음은 돈으로 뒤덮혀있어요. 마치 마트에서 파는 물건을 감싸는 플라스틱 껍질이나, 포장재처럼 말이에요. 그래서 영혼이 숨을 잘 못쉬겠대요. 잘 듣지도, 보지도 못할 것 같대요.
돈은 저의 숨통을 조여요.
