All colors are a mixture of dry pigment and liquid. In oil paints, the pigment is mixed with linseed oil. Flaxseed oil is an oil that dries out during the oxidation process with air. It absorbs oxygen from the air and constantly crystallizes the pigment of the paint. When the oil dries, it can not be removed.

Oil paints are thick. They are produced in pipes. Paints are squeezed out on a palette and mixed with a palette knife to create new shades. Then they are applied to the vertically arranged canvas by rigid elastic brushes.

With paint, you can work up to 12 hours in a row, after which you must leave the work to dry for three days, after which you can continue to work. When the colors are dry, new colors can be applied over the top. There can be many layers in the work. Each successive layer should be the same thickness or thicker than the previous one, otherwise there will be cracks.

All people are trying to paint since childhood. Someone does it well, and in the future people associate art with art, but someone does not get everything. Every time in my life I visited a gallery or an exhibition of paintings. And, of course, sometimes there was a desire to take and draw something for myself, only for myself. Today we will tell you where to start our work.

Brushes are best to choose special ones to work with butter. Brushes made of pork bristles are the most convenient. They are more durable and ideal for your work. It is better not to experiment and do not draw with your fingers, this can be dangerous, since oil paints are very toxic.

Multilayer technology is suitable for longer work. This method involves the use of several layers of paint. When we paint nature with oil, we will need just such a technique. Since in one picture you can combine many images and transfer them to the canvas.

We always draw oil oil in stages. Do not compress at the same time. First, apply what you want on the canvas, in pencil. This is done to properly distribute ton and paint in the future. After that it is recommended to apply a primer. In principle, there are paintings already impregnated with soil. The primer itself contributes to the fact that the paint sticks to the canvas better.

Regardless of how rational the artist performed his work, no matter how he calculated how to make it durable, the picture may prematurely die if it is in bad conditions. The oil painting is best stored on a wall in a bright, clean and dry room.

But also hanging on the wall, oil painting requires some caution. He gets dust and soot. You can not remove dust from the pattern with the same rag that erases furniture and frame. You can not touch the surface of the image with your hands. It is absolutely unacceptable to wipe the picture with saliva, which is sometimes done in order to clearly distinguish the dark places of the picture. Do not wash the painting with soap without knowing the composition of this soap and especially "refresh" with oil or kerosene, without requiring this special knowledge.

It is better to cover the oil paint with varnish and even protect it with glass. But this can be done no earlier than a year after its completion, since oil paint requires access to air for proper drying.
