I know you don’t really like such portraits, but I just adore them ❤

Someday I will correct and begin to share with you my work, more and more. But it is not exactly. I know you don’t really like such portraits, but I just adore them ❤

In my opinion, grisaille is not only the first, but also the most important step in painting. Because the feeling of tone eventually turns into a sense of color. Having got acquainted with this technique, a person perceives colors no longer one-sidedly, like red or yellow, but also in terms of intensity and saturation of tone.

Grisaille - one-color painting. Transitional relationship between drawing and painting. The first educational task in painting for those who are just starting to learn to paint is Grisaille. Why? The most difficult thing for someone who is just starting to work with paint - is the transfer of tone using color. Usually, any normal person can easily call the color of an object, at least approximately - red, green, etc. But he can hardly determine how several objects correlate with each other tonally - which is darker, which is easier, and if it is easier, ...

I will tell you the secret, it is not always easy to determine even a professional artist, so simple logic is often used, which is also present in drawing and painting: which is closer, brighter and more contrast, then more blurry and uniform in tone. But it is clear that solving the problems of the cutoff mode is much simpler, using only one color. Say, the usual color of a pencil - then the transition to the paint will be much easier.

By the way, the word "grisile" comes from about. gris - gray. And most often grisaille can really be found in black and white. The fact is that originally the grisaille was intended to imitate a sculpture, more precisely, sculptural reliefs on the walls, respectively, it was an internal painting.

I paint pictures with love! ❤
