Staff of Hermes (The Caduceus) Oil painting in progress details 9x7ft
The Staff of Hermes was named after the Greek God Hermes, messenger for the Gods.
He was conductor of the dead and protector of merchants and thieves.
The Caduceus consists of two intertwined serpents forming a double helix. Often depicted in the left hand of Greek God Mercury.
The Rod of Asclepius, from the Greek God Asclepius, medical practitioner/healer, was the sun of Apollo.
The serpent symbolizing renewal, rejuvenation, duality- life/death, sickness/health.
In my version I only included one snake (being all layers are transparent I do all the bones and two would have been overwhelming.) The snake winds off the staff held by Baphomet attacking a Centauride (female Centaur)
This is really incredible work!
Ty Reverend, Followed, and thanks for the resteem!
