Holiday Accessories
I created this accessory ensemble for the big holiday party thrown by my husband's work.
It was inspired by these fab Madden shoes:
I cut the teal velvet using McCall's pattern 3033, and machine stitched the seams. However, the hem requires a delicate overcast handstitch. Later on, I want to open the neckline a bit wider and handstitch that, too. It has a soft silk bias strip facing.
For the necklace, I strung gemstones, Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver onto 49 strand Beadalon wire.
I love the blue and green kyanite ovals, so delicate with their glistening inclusions. They gleam in contrast to the solid black Swarovski crystals. I also employed sections of adventurine rounds and faceted green agates interspersed with Swarovski disks. The big square lapis lazuli makes a bold focal piece and header for the sterling silver chain tassel. Petite tourmaline, adventurine, Swarovskis, and one sterling bead finish the ends.
Thanks for visiting! May your holidays be a series of gems and precious metals, er, moments ;)
Love,Cat
