Sallie Gardner at a Gallop (1878)
This is regarded as one of the first examples of a true motion picture. It was made by well known photographer of his time Eadweard Muybridge in 1878. Sallie Gardner is the name of the horse that is running in a farm in Palo Alto.
This particular motion picture consists of 24 individual rapidly taken photographs each taken by a different camera, positioned parallel to horse's direction of motion. Those 24 frames are then put inside a Zoopraxiscope and the effect of motion is created.
The original video is about 1.5 seconds, I looped it to make it 1 minutes since it's hard to take anything from the video in 1.5 seconds. I also re-rendered it to improve quality with limited success.
This is a journey in time. The jockey in the video, Gilbert Domm, is arguably the first person appeared in a motion picture. He was born in 1844 and he was 34 years old when he took part in this experimental work.
