For a couple of months I have been working on a Graphic Novel to which I have devoted a lot of time and effort, written and illustrated by me, this little illustration is an advance of what is on the way, This Graphic Novel is titled * Russo *, let's hope in the next few weeks to be able to share more details of the story.

The Process

This illustration is made with a comic style, using pens and colored pencils. The initial sketch is made with a ballpoint pen, not only marking the contour of the drawing, but defining the shadow areas, and the lines of the muscles.

The color was something quite simple to apply, when using colored pencils on the strokes of the pen, a better dark effect is achieved than that achieved with a black pencil, in addition to that achieves a lighting effect , in this case using the colors Red and Blue applying them on opposite edges.

The Background

I was not sure about painting the background, since the pure illustration on the white cardboard looked pretty good, although when I decided I realized that this rainy-style background gave it a more rustic look, its irregular patterns accompanied by dark colors fit perfectly with the colors of the lighting of the body of the fighter.
