How to: Drag Queen Makeup

Sup Cutiecats!

Today I felt very extra and decided to whip up my makeup skills and show you how to pull off an awesome drag makeup look. I went like this to Uni and everyone LOVED it.

You see, our teacher gave us an assignment: Do a presentation about a problematic social issue. My group and I didn't even need to think about it, we chose LGBTQ+ rights. There is so much discrimination and disrespect to this wonderful and fun community.

So we all picked a part to play, and I, of course, was the Drag Queen.

Here is how I did it:

First and foremost: glue. A glue stick will be your best friend. You have to put some on your eyebrows, because your new and fabulous eyebrows will be miles higher. I have FULL brows, so mine still show up a bit when I flattened them down.

After the glue, use a high coverage foundation and concealer. I like to mix it up a little, so I went with a drugstore foundation and a high end concealer:

Revlon Colorstay Foundation, very good and semi cheap. My shade is 300.

Tarte Shape Tape concealer. For me, the most high coverage concealer on the planet. I am a Light Medium Honey.

Afterwards, I just powdered and baked my face with white translucent powder until I looked like a Dr. Seuss villain (don't worry, you dust that away later with a brush).

The bronzer and contouring for this makeup is very harsh, so if you feel you're putting too much on, you're headed down the right path. In drag, "too much makeup" is not a familiar concept. Apply bronzer loosely under the cheekbones and around the face (don't forget down the neck), and then contour up those hollow cheeks until you look like you're making a fish face. Draw two parallel lines beside the bridge of your nose and blend that baby out for a very defined and slim nose. NOW YOU CAN DUST OF THAT POWDER. You're welcome.

Blush up your cheeks in an upward motion and then highlight that face to the Gods. Brush some highlight on the high points of your cheekbones, on your temples and a bit over your browbone, on your chin, cupid's bow and on the bridge of your very contoured nose.

For the brows, outline them first with a brow pencil or gel similar to your hair colour. Draw them dramatically arched. Think Jessica Rabbit high, start OVER your real brow. Then fill them in starting from above your nose and going towards the tip.  You almost don't fill them in at the beginning, but then start to do so more and more towards the arch and tip,  leaving a kind of ombre look.

With the eyes, I just looked for the reddest eyeshadow I had and applied it all over my upper and lower lids. Leave a little space under your new brow and apply highlight there. That is your new browbone. Dust a dark brown colour on the outer part of the lid and a pale cream colour on the inner part.

Draw a dramatic cat eye on the upper lashline. I wanted to add a bit more glam so I lined my lower lash line too, extended the line farther than my eye and then filled that space and my waterline with white eyeliner.

Lastly, just add some fake lashes (the more dramatic, the better) and overline those lips with bright lipstick so you're left with juicy, pouty, provocative lips. Add a sassy outfit and youre DONE!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial post on drag makeup. Do you want me to do any other makeup? If you have any suggestions, requests or questions, leave them in the comments!

P.S: We got an A+ on the assignment! :D
