Art 153: My Drawing of a Frog using Oil Pastel 🐸
Hi, Steemit Universe!
I feel guilty for sharing this artwork late. I have actually shared this photo already in facebook. When I was new in steemit, I was told that the content we should post here should be something exceptional. It should be informative, educational and interesting and most importantly, it should be new! Something that is not so mainstream. I apologize then.
Well, actually this artwork didn’t get so many likes in facebook. So, probably, the steemians will also not like this. But, I am unstoppable in my own perspective.
Title | Baki |

Medium | Oil Pastel |
Description | “Baki” is our local or vernacular term for a frog. Also it is the common nickname for “Michael”. Anyways, this is already my third artwork featuring frog. I dont know why they look so colorful and beautiful in pinterest when I only see ugly frogs in our locality. I actually hate frogs. But, I love them in pinterest. Is that possible? Or am I making sense here? |
The Process
First, I gathered the materials I will be making for this project- the oil pastel, vellum board and pencils. Then, I started sketching the outlines.
Second, I started coloring the head of the frog using yellow, yellow green and green. For the eyes, I used yellow, orange and red on the side and of course black.
Then, I continued with the upper body and some parts of the lower body. I am not so familiar of the anatomy of the frog, so I cannot used jargons. For the lower body I used different colors such as peach, blue, gray, orange, red and white.
Next, I colored the forelegs of the frog and outlined the bamboo. I consistently pressed my oil pastel sticks on the board to have even weights of colors.
Then, I was not so sure of the next step. So, I stopped and shifted to coloring the black background. That is a good technique when you think you are in doubt and confused on what to do next.
Then, I colored the bamboo with yellow, green and yellow green. I added highlights with white pastel until I finished everything.
Now here’s the finished output!
I hope you like my artwork and my blog in general. See you in the next post!
