Comic Book Cover Art "The Singularity"

in #art8 years ago

This is cover for a Sci-fi comic book i did awhile back, "The Singularity" . i really wanted to push my self to create something special, something that i could be proud of for years to come. looking back on it now this cover marks a time in my life where i made a serious transition from being an amateur comic book artist to being a good one.

The process for most for my art stays pretty consistent from piece to piece

I start off by simply penciling the best i can. i start with a rough sketch in blue color pencil then i lightly erase it and pencil over the residual blue to get the cleanest sketch possible.

The sketch took about 4 days and it was done on 11x17 bristol board art paper
(standard for comic book portfolio's)issue 6 cover.jpg
After the sketch is finished I take it to Staples to have it scanned on a big flat-bed scanner.
i have them make a high-res pdf file for me (300 dpi). I take that file home and work on it in Photoshop.
The rendering consist of a 18-20 layer process that takes about 10-14 hours.

Sir, you have gotten yourself a new follower :)

😁thank you. glad u like my style, It takes awhile render out but, it’s worth it in the end. thx again for the follow.

Nice work. This is the way I’ve been trending as I try to figure out my own process/workflow. I’m finding I enjoy & get better results by physically penciling, but moved back to digital inking! (At least for this week!)
Not sure how often you’re scanning or how much you’re paying per scan, but I was kinda shocked recently that there are some very good large format scanner/printer combos on the market. Whenever I searched for a large format scanner the prices & selection were terrible... but I had neglected to look at all in ones that can be had for $250-$300.

At the time I wasn’t paying much per-scan. They were only charging me about 25 cents a scan. I was a regular at Staples they would often give me scans for free, it was the printing that was pricey.
That’s just nature of the beast I guess. I do all my drawing on my iPad now to improve the work flow. Thx for the upvoted 🙏

Upvoted!! Very cool man. You working on anything new?
