"Wildwood Spring"

Painted on location in Wildwood Park in the San Gabriel mountains north of Los Angeles.

I set up to paint with the sun in front of me as I looked toward the east on a beautiful spring morning.

I was awed by the backlighting on the trees against the backdrop of the mountain. I also liked how the light pattern on the trees continued into the light on the mountain and then up and out of the design, creating a graceful flow.

I hope you enjoy seeing this painting.
