"Teddy Bear Cholla" Step-By-Step
Teddy Bear Cholla have a warm and fuzzy name but are anything but cuddly cactus with their sharp spines! They make a great subject for a painting, however, here depicted in early morning light in the Sonoran desert south of Quartzsite, Arizona.

A small pencil study to work out my idea....
Next came a study of the center of interest - where I want the viewer to focus their attention....
Then a watercolor.....
And now working on the large sheet, here's a close-up of the main focal area while "under construction"....

Very welcome. Enjoy seeing it.
Man, you are good. Aquarel is for me most demanding technique. And I really appreciate posting of your step-by-step workflow
@lighteye Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the post and that you commented.
One of my favorites, I like the play of colors and patterns. Mountains and blue sky are a wonderful backdrop for the Cholla.
Thanks so much ! @reddust
