Five pieces of art by mother nature (original photography)
Kousa Dogwood fruit (edible)
Common Teasel seedpod
Pacific Dogwood flower
I was not able to identify these beautiful seedpods. They were a striking red color but even so I loved the structure and texture I was able to bring forward in this black and white edit.
Southern Magnolia fruit
Your camera is insanely awesome. Thank for allowing your viewers the opportunity to breathe in and smell some beautiful nature
Nice closeup photography work! Your smartphone takes better close up pictures than my camera does.
I have started using the manual settings for my smartphone's camera and I am getting some nice results. I still want a "real" camera but you know, the camera I carry around in my pocket all the time anyway is actually pretty good!
Those are all pretty cool. I personally also like how the seed pods on datura plants look. It is some nasty stuff if you consume it but it is really cool looking.
oh I know dude! Datura seed pods are a personal favorite as well :)
They pop up in my yard sometimes. I feel a little bad about pulling them out but I am always afraid that my dogs will get into them.
There are a lot of weird plants that seem to do well in this desert. I had a tree spring up from a random seed, that a bird dropped or something, grow to 12 feet in a year. It even uprooted a well established oleander bush in the process. I couldn't kill that thing either. Every time I would cut it down, it would sprout new branches off of the stump and come right back.
You took some nice photographs with your smartphone. The 'dogwood' seems a miniature pineapple fruit.
Yeah this species of dogwood is native to Korea and apparently the fruit is very sweet, with no bitter taste, and a flavor similar to papaya ! I am going to sample these when they are ripe. They turn bright red when they are ripe. Cheers
@carlgnash love your shots! Looks so peaceful!
Thanks @mvd! I don't usually just post pictures without text but I felt like letting nature do the talking :) Love - Carl
nature is so weird and so beautiful and so really strange, and just looking at these sometimes makes me feel a bit weird :D but really fascinating <3 i love it~
yeah I thought these all had an element of the alien about them that I tried to bring out in the composition and edit
thats it ! you nailed it, i think there's something alien and familiar but unsettling, like looking at them makes my mind kind of unravel a bit XD
you certainly brought that alien feels out with the composition and edits, mister alien eye !!
Terrific texture & architecture. Thank you, Carl, for sharing these mini marvels from the open air museum called Nature...
Architecture - thank you, as usual, plucking the proper word for the occasion :)
Ok Carl listen the first one looks like a Nipple flower😬just to be sure off the plants name , I use an app When I take pictures for the name and details off the plants or flowers its great AND FREE.
Its called PICTURE THIS APP
I have used it mamy times: for example

Have a great Sunday
GREETZ from Rotterdam
Ah yes, good eye - Nipple Flower is indeed the scientific name for that :) LOL Hey cool idea on using an app to ID plants I had heard of that before but never really clicked to try it yet
The extra information about for example the nipple flower is for plant and flower fanatics really cool instead off just the picture.
These photos are incredible! :D And so unusual they almost feel unreal. The first photo is definitely my favorite. Not sure if I'd eat it the fruit tho xD
It is in incredible how Macro view can unlock a new view of Nature... the patterns, the Mathematics, the symmetry and the fractals... everything is more complex than we see at first sight... even us...
and that's the beauty of it
